Confounded Certainty

confounded uncertainty

Staring at the stars as if it would guide

Us like the pole star, we implore the night

Sky for direction. Just like a night sky obscured by

The city light, we get the blank answer. We reach

Where we were expected, yet we feel like a captain on

A ship surrounded by ice sheet rendering the ship   Continue reading “Confounded Certainty”

Besieged By Our Own Dystopia

They say life has its own ups and down,

treating us like a lonely sailor in the stormy sea,

with no port in sight. Often we cover ourself with the walls

of dystopia which is like real maudlin magnum opus.

We imagine ourself getting beaten up again and again,

unable to get up like a worker burdened with stone to carry.

Dejection and depression follow us like unwanted friend,

injecting us with deleterious feelings.  Feeling like a protagonist

in never-ending woeful play, we move forward ignoring all

chances of getting happiness. Isolation clouds our vision

of  future and pull us deeper into darker abyss. Yet, there is something

called hope which gives millions of living being the reason to

fight another day, to hold on against the cyclone. Hope, the four letter

word which barely gets recognition compared to its famous colleague,

can make you find the lighthouse in the dark.

Mr. Robson was scribbling on another sticky note. He had a meeting from 10 to 12, 2 to 4 and then 6 to 8 with different clients. In the last four months, eight people had left the organisation and as a result, Mr. Robson had a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders. He was working twelve hours per day now, even on 31st December.

“Well Mr. Robson, our organisation is going through a transition and because of which people are leaving us as they are uncertain of their future here. But don’t worry future is bright for us. Thanks for stepping up during this time.”, Mr. William, Robson’s boss told him during a meeting with senior management people as the attendees. It was followed by other topics like the future scope of enhancing the company’s revenue and other cost-cutting methods. Mr. Robson was not listening to empty promises made by pompous people in their expensive suits.

There is one thing that happens to nice people. They are, at some stage of life, taken for granted. People will say, “Oh, he will do it, because he is a complaisant person.” Doing so, they forget to express gratitude to those people. Even though Mr. Robson had been working Continue reading “Time and Space”

Crepuscular Rays

The meteorologists predicted the pleasant sunny weather today. However, their prediction was refuted by nature’s cloudy weather. Amber was driving her sedan with the iPad lying in the backseat displaying the news article about the ramification of law that opened a foreign country to 9/11 lawsuits. She looked at the watch on the dashboard. She didn’t expect that much traffic and it was making her impatient. Cars were queued up with drivers eager to start their vehicles as if the green light of traffic light marked the start of the F1 race. She was going home from hospital early today.

“Honey, I will be late today. But tomorrow, we will go to your favorite place for dinner, I promise.”, James said as he kissed his wife. They had to change their plan again because of his meeting which was fixed all of a sudden to discuss the business plan in an ever changing market. They looked into each others eyes and tried to decrypt (with success) the silent words they were shooting at each other. James glanced at his wrist watch and waved goodbye through his eyes. He got into his car and went away as she looked till the car disappeared from her view. The only passenger of that car never came back after that day.

Amber heard honking sound from vehicles behind her. She never realized that the traffic light was now green. She brought the car engine to life in the midst of increasing volume Continue reading “Crepuscular Rays”

Promise

1

It’s a Wednesday morning and people were rushing to their destination. All vehicles were racing against time. One of them was a blue sedan with a woman at driver seat and a girl about nine years old sitting beside her. “My little Christie is quite these days… I cannot blame her for that. A lot has happened in the last ten days.” Carol thought. She applied brake like other cars in front of her. “These traffic lights seem to collude to make you late for school. What do you say, Christie?”, she said, hoping to break the deafening silence between them but she failed to do so. Christie was looking out away from her mother, apparently trying to locate something. “What is she looking for? Oh no, we are at that place again. I should have taken another route, even though it’s a bit longer.” Carol didn’t say anything to Christie about that. The music player changed the music. Carol felt her eyes getting moist. She quickly wiped her tears with tissue paper kept on the dashboard, Continue reading “Promise”
